Riverwoods
Riverwoods, located 27 miles north of
the Loop, is a community with amazing
natural beauty.
The Village of Riverwoods has some of
Chicagoland’s most untouched, heavily
wooded areas. It is a place where the
Des Plaines River runs through the trees
and scenery, giving Riverwoods its name.
Riverwoods is true to its quaint nature.
The town opened its first strip shopping
center in fall of 2004.
Most of the lots that
the beautiful homes sit on are at least an
acre, surrounded by beautiful woodlands.
Residents of Riverwoods have access to
the Deerfield Park District which offers
a variety of programs. At the Jewett Park
Community Center, preschool classes,
many recreational programs, and some
athletics are offered for youths and adults.
The community also has access to the
Riverwoods Wildlife Preserve and the
Ryerson Conservation area.
Schools
Elementary school and middle
school students can attend classes in
Deerfield Elementary District 109.
High school students can attend either
Deerfield or Highland Park High Schools
both located in Township High School
District 113.
There are also several private and
parochial schools in the surrounding areas.
Transportation
Commuters have easy
access to the Edens Expressway (I-94)
or Route 21. A trip to Chicago O'Hare
Airport will take 21 minutes, while a
drive to Chicago Midway Airport will
take 50 minutes.
Rail commuters can use the Metra line
